The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

A prayer for rescue ends with full bellies, satisfied sons, and abundance left to children.

A plea tested in the nightvv. 1–6

David begins with a claim as clean as the lips carrying it: his plea is righteous, his cry is free of deceit. The LORD has already searched him in the night and found no evil; David has kept his mouth from sin and his feet from slipping. It is a remarkably tidy self-portrait, though the prayer still asks to be heard.

Under the wingsvv. 7–12

David asks for the wonders of the LORD’s loving devotion and for shelter beneath the shadow of the wings. The enemies are close, callous, arrogant, and arranged around him; their hunting is rendered in two splendidly unpleasant shapes, a greedy lion and a young lion waiting in ambush.

Bellies, sons, and the waking facevv. 13–15

The prayer turns sharply from the lurking lions to a household scene: bellies filled, sons satisfied, and abundance passed on to children. The text does not pause to explain whose abundance this is. David then leaves the matter of such men behind and looks towards the LORD’s face, expecting satisfaction on waking.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
