What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The song moves from the depths of the earth and the mountain peaks to a generation shut out from rest.
A great King, and the sheep beneath his carevv. 1–7
The singers call one another into joy, thanksgiving, noise, worship, bowing, and kneeling. The LORD is great King above all gods: the depths, peaks, sea, and dry land are in his hands because he made them. Then the grand procession becomes pastoral; the singers are his people, sheep under his care, and the next word hangs on whether his voice is heard.
The warning in the wildernessvv. 8–11
The invitation turns sharply at Meribah and Massah, in the wilderness, where the fathers tested and tried the LORD despite having seen his work. The anger lasts forty years; the generation is described as wandering in heart and ignorant of his ways. The ending is an oath, and the promised destination is denied: rest remains outside their reach.
