The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The people who forbid preaching turn out to have a very particular taste in preachers: anyone promising wine and strong drink will do nicely.
The sermon they would rather hearvv. 1–11
The chapter opens with men plotting evil in bed and carrying it out at dawn, because power is in their hands. Fields, houses, homes, and inheritances are taken; then the LORD announces a disaster that will bend their proud walk and leave their portion allotted to traitors. Even the rebuke is resisted in sermon form: “Do not preach,” they preach. Yet the most deliciously crooked detail comes at the end of this movement: a false preacher of wine and strong drink would be exactly the preacher this people wanted. Meanwhile, women are driven from pleasant homes, children lose blessing, and the land is told to be abandoned because it has become no place of rest.
The flock breaks outvv. 12–13
Then the scene turns sharply. The LORD will gather Jacob and collect Israel’s remnant, not into a tidy little company but into a noisy throng, sheep packed in a pen and flocked in pasture. One breaks open the way; the people follow through the gate, and their King passes before them, with the LORD as their leader. After all that plotting in bedrooms and all those stolen boundaries, the chapter ends with a breach.

Mic 2:1Woe to those who devise iniquity and plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they accomplish it because the power is in their hands.
Mic 2:2They covet fields and seize them; they take away houses. They deprive a man of his home, a fellow man of his inheritance.
Mic 2:3Therefore this is what the LORD says: “I am planning against this nation a disaster from which you cannot free your necks. Then you will not walk so proudly, for it will be a time of calamity.
Mic 2:4In that day they will take up a proverb against you and taunt you with this bitter lamentation: ‘We are utterly ruined! He has changed the portion of my people. How He has removed it from me! He has allotted our fields to traitors.’”
Mic 2:5Therefore, you will have no one in the assembly of the LORD to divide the land by lot.
Mic 2:6“Do not preach,” they preach. “Do not preach these things; disgrace will not overtake us.”
Mic 2:7Should it be said, O house of Jacob, “Is the Spirit of the LORD impatient? Are these the things He does?” Do not My words bring good to him who walks uprightly?
Mic 2:8But of late My people have risen up like an enemy: You strip off the splendid robe from unsuspecting passersby like men returning from battle.
Mic 2:9You drive the women of My people from their pleasant homes. You take away My blessing from their children forever.
Mic 2:10Arise and depart, for this is not your place of rest, because its defilement brings destruction—a grievous destruction!
Mic 2:11If a man of wind were to come and say falsely, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be just the preacher for this people!
Mic 2:12I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will collect the remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in the midst of its pasture—a noisy throng.
Mic 2:13One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate, and go out by it. Their King will pass through before them, the LORD as their leader.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
