The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
Ephraim has gray hair and does not know it. The oven is hot, the cake is unturned, and the dove is calling first to Egypt and then to Assyria—an alarming amount of kitchenware and birdlife for one political crisis.
The oven that devours rulersvv. 1–7
Israel’s healing begins with an unpleasant inspection: Ephraim’s iniquity and Samaria’s crimes are exposed, while thieves and bandits go about their brisk street business. The king enjoys evil, the princes enjoy lies, and wine joins the festivities until the rulers themselves are devoured. The oven needs no stoking; anger has managed the household perfectly well overnight.
The gray-haired dovevv. 8–16
Ephraim mixes with the nations and emerges as an unturned cake, which is a very particular sort of failure. Foreigners consume his strength while the gray appears unnoticed; Israel’s arrogance speaks plainly, but Israel does not return or seek. Ephraim then flutters between Egypt and Assyria, only to meet a net. The wailing and self-inflicted cutting are aimed at grain and new wine rather than at the LORD, and the leaders finish as a faulty bow finishes: falling by the sword, with Egypt laughing at the result.

Hos 7:1When I heal Israel, the iniquity of Ephraim will be exposed, as well as the crimes of Samaria. For they practice deceit and thieves break in; bandits raid in the streets.
Hos 7:2But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.
Hos 7:3They delight the king with their evil, and the princes with their lies.
Hos 7:4They are all adulterers, like an oven heated by a baker who needs not stoke the fire from the kneading to the rising of the dough.
Hos 7:5The princes are inflamed with wine on the day of our king; so he joins hands with those who mock him.
Hos 7:6For they prepare their heart like an oven while they lie in wait; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
Hos 7:7All of them are hot as an oven, and they devour their rulers. All their kings fall; not one of them calls upon Me.
Hos 7:8Ephraim mixes with the nations; Ephraim is an unturned cake.
Hos 7:9Foreigners consume his strength, but he does not notice. Even his hair is streaked with gray, but he does not know.
Hos 7:10Israel’s arrogance testifies against them, yet they do not return to the LORD their God; despite all this, they do not seek Him.
Hos 7:11So Ephraim has become like a silly, senseless dove—calling out to Egypt, then turning to Assyria.
Hos 7:12As they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like birds of the air. I will chastise them when I hear them flocking together.
Hos 7:13Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against Me! Though I would redeem them, they speak lies against Me.
Hos 7:14They do not cry out to Me from their hearts when they wail upon their beds. They slash themselves for grain and new wine, but turn away from Me.
Hos 7:15Although I trained and strengthened their arms, they plot evil against Me.
Hos 7:16They turn, but not to the Most High; they are like a faulty bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword for the cursing of their tongue; for this they will be ridiculed in the land of Egypt.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
