The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The idols need beasts to carry them, while God says that He has carried Israel from birth and will carry it into old age.
The burden that cannot helpvv. 1–2
Bel crouches and Nebo cowers beneath the peculiar indignity of being cargo. The idols weigh down beasts and cattle, and the gods themselves go into captivity, unable even to relieve the burden they have imposed.
The carried and the carried-awayvv. 3–7
Against this procession of burdens stands God's account of Israel: sustained from the womb, carried since birth, and promised the same care into old age. The manufactured god has a rather more modest career. A goldsmith fashions it, worshippers lift it to its place, and there it remains, perfectly stationary, while its cries for assistance meet the silence of an object that cannot budge or save.
A purpose already on its wayvv. 8–13
The chapter then turns from the immobile image to the God who declares the end from the beginning. A bird of prey from the east and a man from a far-off land are summoned for the purpose already spoken; the stubborn are told that righteousness is being brought near, and that salvation will come to Zion without delay.

Isa 46:1Bel crouches; Nebo cowers. Their idols weigh down beasts and cattle. The images you carry are burdensome, a load to the weary animal.
Isa 46:2The gods cower; they crouch together, unable to relieve the burden; but they themselves go into captivity.
Isa 46:3“Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been sustained from the womb, carried along since birth.
Isa 46:4Even to your old age, I will be the same, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will sustain you and deliver you.
Isa 46:5To whom will you liken Me or count Me equal? To whom will you compare Me, that we should be alike?
Isa 46:6They pour out their bags of gold and weigh out silver on scales; they hire a goldsmith to fashion it into a god, so they can bow down and worship.
Isa 46:7They lift it to their shoulder and carry it along; they set it in its place, and there it stands, not budging from that spot. They cry out to it, but it does not answer; it saves no one from his troubles.
Isa 46:8Remember this and be brave; take it to heart, you transgressors!
Isa 46:9Remember what happened long ago, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me.
Isa 46:10I declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and all My good pleasure I will accomplish.’
Isa 46:11I summon a bird of prey from the east, a man for My purpose from a far-off land. Truly I have spoken, and truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, and I will surely do it.
Isa 46:12Listen to Me, you stubborn people, far removed from righteousness:
Isa 46:13I am bringing My righteousness near; it is not far away, and My salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion and adorn Israel with My splendor.’’

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
