The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
A lion’s roar summons trembling children, and then the children become birds and doves flying home from Egypt and Assyria: the chapter changes its creatures mid-flight and does not explain itself.
The care they did not recognizevv. 1–4
Israel begins as a child loved and called out of Egypt, but the more the call is heard, the farther Israel goes, burning incense to carved images. Ephraim is held by the arms, taught to walk, healed, unyoked, and fed; the extraordinary part is that Ephraim never realized who was doing it. Kindness arrives here with cords and ropes, which is a very biblical sort of household arrangement.
Judgment held backvv. 5–9
Because Israel refused to repent, Egypt and Assyria appear as the possible destinations of a people who will not return: one as land to return to, the other as a power to rule them. The sword then enters the cities, while the people remain bent on turning away. Yet the speech breaks against its own fury. Admah and Zeboiim are summoned as comparisons without explanation, and compassion suddenly stirs before the destruction can be complete.
The roar and the homecomingvv. 10–12
The returning people first tremble as children at a lion’s roar, then tremble like birds from Egypt and doves from Assyria. The image has changed without asking permission, and the destination is now home. The chapter ends with a final contrast: Ephraim and Israel surround the speaker with lies and deceit, while Judah still walks with God and remains faithful to the Holy One.

Hos 11:1When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.
Hos 11:2But the more I called Israel, the farther they departed from Me. They sacrificed to the Baals and burned incense to carved images.
Hos 11:3It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms, but they never realized that it was I who healed them.
Hos 11:4I led them with cords of kindness, with ropes of love; I lifted the yoke from their necks and bent down to feed them.
Hos 11:5Will they not return to the land of Egypt and be ruled by Assyria because they refused to repent?
Hos 11:6A sword will flash through their cities; it will destroy the bars of their gates and consume them in their own plans.
Hos 11:7My people are bent on turning from Me. Though they call to the Most High, He will by no means exalt them.
Hos 11:8How could I give you up, O Ephraim? How could I surrender you, O Israel? How could I make you like Admah? How could I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within Me; My compassion is stirred!
Hos 11:9I will not execute the full fury of My anger; I will not destroy Ephraim again. For I am God and not man—the Holy One among you—and I will not come in wrath.
Hos 11:10They will walk after the LORD; He will roar like a lion. When He roars, His children will come trembling from the west.
Hos 11:11They will come trembling like birds from Egypt and like doves from the land of Assyria. Then I will settle them in their homes, declares the LORD.
Hos 11:12Ephraim surrounds Me with lies, the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah still walks with God and is faithful to the Holy One.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
