Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.

The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

The enemies return each evening as snarling dogs, and David asks that they not be killed—before asking that they be consumed until they are no more.

A house under watchvv. 1–5

The psalm opens with David’s house under surveillance: Saul has sent men to watch it in order to kill him. David protests that the attack has no cause in anything he has done, and calls on the God of Israel to rise, notice, and punish the wicked traitors.

The evening packvv. 6–13

The watchers return in the evening, prowling round the city and speaking as though their words were beyond hearing. The LORD, however, laughs at them. David calls God his fortress, then makes the prayer take an extraordinary turn: the men are not to be killed lest the people forget them, yet they are to be consumed until they are no more. Their mouths, curses, lies, and pride are to become the very trap that brings them down.

Morning answers eveningvv. 14–17

The evening scene returns, complete with scavenging and dissatisfied growling. But David’s answer belongs to the morning: he will sing of strength and loving devotion, because God is his fortress and refuge. The psalm ends where it has been heading all along, with David singing to his strength, his fortress, and his God of loving devotion.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
