What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

The poem ends with a conqueror who has just crushed leaders far and wide stopping for a drink from a roadside brook—and, for reasons left gloriously unexplained, lifting up His head.

The throne, the scepter, and the oathvv. 1–4

David’s psalm opens with the LORD speaking to “my Lord,” placing Him at the LORD’s right hand while enemies are made a footstool. From Zion, the mighty scepter goes out, and the people appear willingly on the day of battle, dressed in holy splendor from the womb of the dawn. Then comes the solemn oath: this ruler is a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

The day of wrath, and the little brookvv. 5–7

The Lord remains at the ruler’s right hand and crushes kings in the day of His wrath. The nations are judged, the dead heaped up, and leaders crushed far and wide—an admirably uncompromising piece of royal scenery. Then the whole vision stoops to the roadside: He drinks from a brook, and therefore lifts up His head. The psalm supplies the brook, the drink, and the therefore, but not the explanation.
