The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The priests stand day after day, offering the same sacrifices, while Jesus offers one sacrifice and sits down. The chapter has made its point with posture before it makes it with doctrine: repetition is still at work, but the finished work has taken a seat.
The sacrifice that sits downvv. 1–18
The law is called a shadow rather than the thing itself, and the yearly sacrifices keep bringing sins back into view without taking them away. Bulls and goats cannot do what is required, so Christ comes into the world declaring that he has come to do God’s will. The first arrangement is taken away and the second established: Jesus’ body is offered once for all, and the priest who has finished the sacrifice sits at God’s right hand. The Holy Spirit then speaks of laws written on hearts and sins remembered no more; where forgiveness has arrived, the sin-offering cupboard is, rather gloriously, shut.
An open way, and a dreadful warningvv. 19–31
Because of Jesus’ blood and the new way opened through the curtain of his body, the Most Holy Place is no longer presented as an inaccessible chamber. The people are urged towards faith, hope, love, good deeds, and meeting together as the approaching Day draws near. Then the tone turns sharply: deliberate sin after receiving the truth leaves no further sacrifice, only judgment and raging fire. The chapter remembers the severe fate of those who rejected Moses’ law and asks what remains for one who tramples on the Son of God. The answer is not dressed up.
The earlier ordeal and the coming onevv. 32–39
The readers are recalled to their early days in the light, when ridicule, persecution, prison, and the confiscation of property were met with sympathy and even joy, because they knew of a better and permanent possession. Confidence must not be thrown away; perseverance is required before the promised thing is received. The final note is a little procession of expectation: the Coming One will not delay, the righteous will live by faith, and shrinking back is set against preserving the soul. The chapter ends by declining the shrinking-back party altogether.

Heb 10:1For the law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.
Heb 10:2If it could, would not the offerings have ceased? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt the guilt of their sins.
Heb 10:3Instead, those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins,
Heb 10:4because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Heb 10:5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for Me.
Heb 10:6In burnt offerings and sin offerings You took no delight.
Heb 10:7Then I said, ‘Here I am, it is written about Me in the scroll: I have come to do Your will, O God.’”
Heb 10:8In the passage above He says, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings You did not desire, nor did You delight in them” (although they are offered according to the law).
Heb 10:9Then He adds, “Here I am, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second.
Heb 10:10And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
Heb 10:12But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God.
Heb 10:13Since that time, He waits for His enemies to be made a footstool for His feet,
Heb 10:14because by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified.
Heb 10:15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First He says:
Heb 10:16“This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their hearts and inscribe them on their minds.”
Heb 10:17Then He adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
Heb 10:18And where these have been forgiven, an offering for sin is no longer needed.
Heb 10:19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20by the new and living way opened for us through the curtain of His body,
Heb 10:21and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
Heb 10:22let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
Heb 10:24And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds.
Heb 10:25Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb 10:26If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains,
Heb 10:27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume all adversaries.
Heb 10:28Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Heb 10:29How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
Heb 10:30For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge His people.”
Heb 10:31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Heb 10:32Remember the early days that you were in the light. In those days, you endured a great conflict in the face of suffering.
Heb 10:33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to ridicule and persecution; at other times you were partners with those who were so treated.
Heb 10:34You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, knowing that you yourselves had a better and permanent possession.
Heb 10:35So do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward.
Heb 10:36You need to persevere, so that after you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.
Heb 10:37For, “In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.
Heb 10:38But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he shrinks back, I will take no pleasure in him.”
Heb 10:39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
