The night servants bless the LORD, raise their hands toward the sanctuary, and are then blessed in return from Zion.
Blessing in both directionsvv. 1–3
The song opens with servants working by night in the house of the LORD, summoned to bless him and to lift their hands toward the sanctuary. Then the direction changes neatly: the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth, is asked to bless the servants from Zion. A very short service, with the blessing sent both ways.
