What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The delegation asks for a wonder to make Babylon withdraw, and receives the astonishing reply that the LORD Himself will fight against the city.
A request sent under siegevv. 1–2
The word comes to Jeremiah when King Zedekiah sends Pashhur son of Malchijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah. Their request is modest in wording and enormous in hope: perhaps the LORD might perform one of His past wonders and make Nebuchadnezzar withdraw from them.
The way out is called lifevv. 3–10
Jeremiah answers Zedekiah with an oracle that turns the expected rescue inside out. The weapons in the city's hands will be turned against it, the besieging forces gathered into its centre, and the LORD Himself will fight against it. Then comes the chapter's curious pair of roads: staying inside means sword, famine, and plague; going out to surrender to the Chaldeans means life, retained like a spoil of war. Babylon will receive the city, and fire will finish the matter.
A word for the royal housevv. 11–14
The oracle then turns from the besieged city to the house of the king of Judah. The house of David is told to administer justice each morning and rescue the victim of robbery, lest wrath burn like an unextinguished fire. The people dwelling above the valley, atop the rocky plateau, are addressed in their confidence that no one can enter their dwellings; their deeds will answer them, and fire will consume the forest around them.

Jer 21:1This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur son of Malchijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah. They said,
Jer 21:2“Please inquire of the LORD on our behalf, since Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is waging war against us. Perhaps the LORD will perform for us something like all His past wonders, so that Nebuchadnezzar will withdraw from us.”
Jer 21:3But Jeremiah answered, “You are to tell Zedekiah that
Jer 21:4this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will turn against you the weapons of war in your hands, with which you are fighting the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the wall, and I will assemble their forces in the center of this city.
Jer 21:5And I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm, with anger, fury, and great wrath.
Jer 21:6I will strike down the residents of this city, both man and beast. They will die in a terrible plague.’
Jer 21:7‘After that,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will hand over Zedekiah king of Judah, his officers, and the people in this city who survive the plague and sword and famine, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who seek their lives. He will put them to the sword; he will not spare them or show pity or compassion.’
Jer 21:8Furthermore, you are to tell this people that this is what the LORD says: ‘Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.
Jer 21:9Whoever stays in this city will die by sword and famine and plague, but whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who besiege you will live; he will retain his life like a spoil of war.
Jer 21:10For I have set My face against this city to bring disaster and not good, declares the LORD. It will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, who will destroy it with fire.’
Jer 21:11Moreover, tell the house of the king of Judah to hear the word of the LORD.
Jer 21:12O house of David, this is what the LORD says: ‘Administer justice every morning, and rescue the victim of robbery from the hand of his oppressor, or My wrath will go forth like fire and burn with no one to extinguish it because of their evil deeds.
Jer 21:13Behold, I am against you who dwell above the valley, atop the rocky plateau—declares the LORD—you who say, “Who can come against us? Who can enter our dwellings?”
Jer 21:14I will punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the LORD. I will kindle a fire in your forest that will consume everything around you.’”

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
