The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

David begins as poor and needy, asks for an undivided heart, and ends by asking for a sign that his enemies may see and be ashamed.

A prayer that widensvv. 1–10

David calls on the LORD all day long, asking for mercy, joy, and preservation. The prayer soon opens out from one distressed servant to all the nations, who will bow before the LORD and glorify His name—a remarkably large horizon for a man who has just announced that he is poor and needy.

An undivided heart among ruthless menvv. 11–17

David asks to be taught the LORD’s way and given an undivided heart, then praises the loving devotion that has delivered him from the depths of Sheol. The danger is plain: arrogant, ruthless men are seeking his life. Yet the prayer ends not with a weapon or a scheme, but with a request for a sign of goodness, so that his enemies may see it and be ashamed.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
