What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

David imagines his father and mother forsaking him, and finds the LORD receiving him instead.

A refuge with rather good viewsvv. 1–6

David begins with the LORD as light, salvation, and stronghold, while enemies arrive in increasingly ambitious numbers: wicked men, an encamped army, and war itself. Yet the single thing he asks is not their defeat but to dwell in the house of the LORD, gaze on His beauty, and seek Him in His temple. Trouble produces a charming collection of hiding places—shelter, tent, and rock—followed by a high head, sacrifices, shouts of joy, singing, and music.

The prayer enters by the side doorvv. 7–12

The triumphant voice now becomes a plea: hear, be merciful, answer. The heart says, “Seek His face,” and David does so, asking that the LORD neither hide His face nor abandon him. Then comes the sharpest family reversal in the psalm: even if father and mother forsake him, the LORD will receive him. He asks for a level path while false witnesses rise against him, breathing violence—a remarkably breathless sort of testimony.

Certain, and still waitingvv. 13–14

David is certain that he will see the LORD’s goodness in the land of the living. The psalm might have ended there, with its gaze fixed firmly ahead; instead it gives the waiting instruction twice, with strength and courage placed between the two appointments. Certainty remains, but the door does not quite open yet.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
