The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

David begins by asking whether the LORD has forgotten him forever, then ends by promising to sing because the LORD has been good to him. The psalm offers no explanation for the turn.

How long?vv. 1–4

David is caught in a long stretch of divine silence: the LORD hides His face, sorrow visits his heart each day, and an enemy seems to have the upper hand. He asks for an answer and for light in his eyes, with death imagined as sleep and his enemy already preparing the victory speech.

Butvv. 5–6

Then comes the small, formidable hinge: “But.” David says that he has trusted in the LORD’s loving devotion, that his heart will rejoice in salvation, and that he will sing because the LORD has been good to him. What prompted the change is left entirely offstage; the psalm simply opens the door and finds a song on the other side.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
