The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The rulers of this age are coming to nothing, but their failure to understand God’s hidden wisdom leads them to crucify the Lord of glory.
A trembling arrivalvv. 1–5
The speaker arrives without eloquence, wisdom, or composure, having resolved to know only Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The message does not lean on persuasive words of wisdom; it arrives instead with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that faith rests on God’s power rather than human wisdom.
The wisdom the rulers missedvv. 6–9
Among the mature, a different wisdom is spoken: mysterious, hidden, and destined by God before time began. It is not the wisdom of this age or its rulers, whose grand authority is already on its way to nothing. None understood it; had they done so, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. The sentence has an almost unbearably large hinge in it.
The mind made knownvv. 10–16
God reveals these things by the Spirit, who searches even the deep things of God. Human inwardness supplies the comparison: a person’s own spirit knows that person’s thoughts, and the Spirit of God knows God’s thoughts. The Spirit teaches words for spiritual truths, though the natural man calls such things foolishness. Then comes the chapter’s arresting reversal: the Lord’s mind cannot be instructed, yet the speakers have the mind of Christ.

1 Cor 2:1When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
1 Cor 2:2For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
1 Cor 2:3I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling.
1 Cor 2:4My message and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,
1 Cor 2:5so that your faith would not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.
1 Cor 2:6Among the mature, however, we speak a message of wisdom—but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
1 Cor 2:7No, we speak of the mysterious and hidden wisdom of God, which He destined for our glory before time began.
1 Cor 2:8None of the rulers of this age understood it. For if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1 Cor 2:9Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
1 Cor 2:10But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
1 Cor 2:11For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
1 Cor 2:12We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.
1 Cor 2:13And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
1 Cor 2:14The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Cor 2:15The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment.
1 Cor 2:16“For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
