Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.

The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

The slain are given white robes and told to wait until more of their fellow servants have been killed, while above them the stars fall like unripe figs.

Four horses, each with his particular errandvv. 1–8

The Lamb opens the seals one by one, and each living creature summons what follows with a thunderous “Come!” First comes a crowned rider on a white horse, carrying a bow and riding to overcome and conquer. Then comes the red horse, whose rider takes peace from the earth and receives a great sword. The black horse carries scales, and a voice announces dear wheat and barley while sparing the oil and wine—a remarkably precise arrangement in the middle of calamity. Last comes the pale green horse, with Death riding and Hades close behind; authority is given to them over a fourth of the earth, with sword, famine, plague, and beasts doing the grim arithmetic.

Under the altarvv. 9–11

The fifth seal reveals the souls of those slain for the word of God and the testimony they upheld. They ask the Lord how long judgment and vengeance will wait. Their answer is a white robe and an instruction to rest a little longer—not until the killing has ceased, but until the full number of their fellow servants has also been killed just as they were.

The sky comes loosevv. 12–17

At the sixth seal, the scene grows larger than the horses and their riders. An earthquake arrives; the sun turns black, the moon blood red, and the stars drop like unripe figs from a shaken tree. The sky rolls away, mountains and islands move, and everyone from kings to slaves hides among caves and rocks. They ask the mountains to fall on them and conceal them from the One on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day has come, and no one among them can withstand it.

  7. Rev 6:7And when the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!”

  8. Rev 6:8Then I looked and saw a pale green horse. Its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed close behind. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword, by famine, by plague, and by the beasts of the earth.

  10. Rev 6:10And they cried out in a loud voice, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge those who dwell upon the earth and avenge our blood?”

  11. Rev 6:11Then each of them was given a white robe and told to rest a little while longer until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers, were killed, just as they had been killed.

  12. Rev 6:12And I watched as the Lamb opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black like sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red,

  13. Rev 6:13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth like unripe figs dropping from a tree shaken by a great wind.

  14. Rev 6:14The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

  15. Rev 6:15Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the commanders, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and free man hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

  16. Rev 6:16And they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.

  17. Rev 6:17For the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?”
