The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The Son is before all things, through him all things were created, and in him all things hold together—a rather comprehensive occupation of the universe.
A greeting that quickly becomes a prayervv. 1–14
Paul and Timothy address the saints and faithful brothers at Colossae, then scarcely pause before giving thanks for their faith and love. Epaphras appears as the beloved fellow servant who taught them and carried news of their love in the Spirit. The prayer asks that their understanding should grow into fruitful, patient, joyful lives, while the language turns from their faith to the Father's rescue and redemption.
The Son before everythingvv. 15–23
The description opens out magnificently: the Son is the image of the invisible God, creation's firstborn, the one through whom all things were made, and the head of the church. Everything in heaven and earth is gathered into his supremacy, including thrones, dominions, rulers, and authorities—the cosmic furniture has all been accounted for. The same Christ reconciles all things through the blood of his cross, and the Colossians are told to remain established and firm in the hope they heard.
Paul's commission and the revealed mysteryvv. 24–29
Paul now brings his own suffering and labor into the picture. He calls himself a servant by God's commission, charged to proclaim the word and disclose the mystery hidden through the ages but now revealed to the saints. That mystery is announced among the Gentiles as Christ in them, the hope of glory; Paul teaches and admonishes everyone, straining with the energy working powerfully within him.

Col 1:1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
Col 1:2To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.
Col 1:3We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
Col 1:4because we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints—
Col 1:5the faith and love proceeding from the hope stored up for you in heaven, of which you have already heard in the word of truth, the gospel
Col 1:6that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood the grace of God.
Col 1:7You learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,
Col 1:8and who also informed us of your love in the Spirit.
Col 1:9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
Col 1:10so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
Col 1:11being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full endurance and patience, and joyfully
Col 1:12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.
Col 1:13He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son,
Col 1:14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Col 1:15The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
Col 1:16For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.
Col 1:17He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Col 1:18And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and firstborn from among the dead, so that in all things He may have preeminence.
Col 1:19For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him,
Col 1:20and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross.
Col 1:21Once you were alienated from God and were hostile in your minds, engaging in evil deeds.
Col 1:22But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy, unblemished, and blameless in His presence—
Col 1:23if indeed you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Col 1:24Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body, which is the church.
Col 1:25I became its servant by the commission God gave me to fully proclaim to you the word of God,
Col 1:26the mystery that was hidden for ages and generations but is now revealed to His saints.
Col 1:27To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Col 1:28We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.
Col 1:29To this end I also labor, striving with all His energy working powerfully within me.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
